Test Engineer
Clientmind is seeking a Test Engineer for a full-time position in our client’s Quality Testing Team. The successful candidate will assist in laboratory and field testing our trackers, communication devices, and backend software. Testing is mainly aimed at proving the reliability, stability, and ruggedness of our designs.
Due to the nature of the work and the environment in which it is performed, all applicants must have the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Responsibilities and Duties
• With guidance perform electrical, environmental, and functional testing on our existing products and products currently under development.
• Collaborate with engineers in developing comprehensive written test plans that address the unit’s physical environment, circuit functionality, and data processing requirements. Tailor test plans to verify compliance with all predefined product requirements and certifications.
• Assist software engineers in developing test cases designed to validate the unit’s electrical systems and operational modes.
• Assist engineers in developing lab equipment scripts for facilitating test automation.
• Assist engineers in constructing and operating a variety of conceptual electrical circuits and mechanical fixtures.
• Assist engineers in setting up probes, lab equipment, and mechanical fixtures.
• Monitor and execute test plans in the Engineering lab, walking outdoors, and on locally defined driving routes.
• Travel to local test laboratories for certification test setup and management.
• Assist engineers in trouble shooting and documenting hardware and software faults encountered during testing.
• Assist engineering in generating test data graphs/tables and images for customer presentations.
• Manage the maintenance, organization, and calibration of Engineering’s laboratory equipment, soldering stations, and electronic component cabinets.
• Build and manage test kits for scheduled offsite testing campaigns.
• Travel to support Engineering’s outdoor field tests at customer sites within the continental USA and abroad.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Associate degree in Engineering or similar, including 2-4 years of experience. Or 5-10 years life experience directly relating to testing, handling, assembling, and troubleshooting systems.
• Ability to learn and operate laboratory equipment. Of particular interest are oscilloscopes, signal generators, vector network analyzers, vector signal analyzers, data acquisition modules, spectrum analyzers, programmable power supplies/loads etc.
• Ability to write clear and precise test plans and reports for internal personnel and external laboratories/clients.
• Ability to read and apply MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
• Ability to load firmware.
• Familiarity with IP networking a plus.
Preferred Experience:
 • RF systems, transceivers
• Satellite positioning systems
• Handheld battery powered electronic devices
• Program in MATLAB, C, Python and/or LabVIEW.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
